Key Concerns from the Endangered Species Act Workshops

May 2009

The Save Ontario’s Species (SOS) Coalition has high hopes for the new Endangered Species Act (ESA). It truly has the potential to be the safety net we need to protect and recover all of Ontario's species at risk.

People in Toronto, Ottawa and Guelph gathered together throughout the month of April to learn more about the strengths and potential weaknesses of the new ESA and find out what they can do to make their voices heard.

Now, as habitat regulations are beginning to be posted on the Environmental Registry, it’s time to build on that momentum and take the next step to keeping the ESA strong.

It is critical that the people of Ontario understand the strengths and potential weaknesses of the new ESA, (permits, exemptions and habitat regulations). Please take a moment to review the background material on this site and learn how you can take action.
